The contest is being offered to K-8 schools with active PTAs in the San Diego Area
through a partnership between the San Diego Unified Council PTA and non-profit
organization Cool the Earth.
During the competition every student will go home with an Action Coupon book containing 12
different ways to save energy and water. As students take actions in the coupon book,
parents sign the coupons and students return them to school to be tallied.
At the end of the competition, schools will be evaluated based on the highest number
of actions per student. Three schools — with the most climate actions taken per student —
will receive cash awards for their PTA. There will be a special fourth prize awarded to
the top underserved school. The prize money scales depending on the number of schools.
Encourage your friends at other PTAs to join in!
